Sunnyvale-headquartered Cepheid was one of several companies receiving a capital injection to expand COVID test manufacturing.
According to a news release by the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Cepheid was awarded $63.8 million contract to expand domestic production capacity of plastic overmold – an essential material for rapid test kits.
Cepheid was acquired by Danaher in 2016 and still operates with a divisional headquarters in Sunnyvale.
