Featured Speakers

Our opening plenary will be provided by The Honorable James Connaughton, CEO of Nautilus Data Technologies. Prior to this role, Mr. Connaughton, served as Executive Vice President of C3 Energy, enabling energy companies to realize the full benefit of their IoT and system investments by applying the power of big data, advanced analytics, social networking, machine learning, and cloud computing to improve the safety, reliability, and efficiency of power generation and delivery – making the ‘Internet of Energy’ a reality.

Previously, Mr. Connaughton was Executive Vice President and Senior Policy Advisor at Exelon and Constellation Energy (which merged with Exelon). Mr. Connaughton was unanimously confirmed by the U.S. Senate to serve as Chairman of the White House Council on Environmental Quality. From 2001-2009 he served as President Bush’s senior advisor on energy, environment and natural resources, and as Director of the White House Office of Environmental Policy. 

Our closing plenary will be a fireside chat with Andrew McMahon, Regional Director for Dcode42 and Former Region 9 Director for the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA). Dcode42 is a unique accelerator program that specializes in helping bring innovative, cutting-edge technologies into the federal government.

Andrew served as Regional Administrator for GSA's Pacific Rim Region. As Regional Administrator. Headquartered in San Francisco, California, the Pacific Rim Region has an annual operating budget of nearly $1 billion. Its 36 million square foot real estate portfolio, which houses over 100,000 federal employees and GSA associates, includes 179 government-owned buildings and leased space in 944 commercial buildings. Mr. McMahon also supported the agency as the Senior Advisor for Technology, providing advice on technology policy, digital government, and agency operations.

He co-founded and helped build 18F, GSA's digital delivery team and scaled the Presidential Innovation Fellows program. Prior to joining GSA, Mr. McMahon served as a Policy Analyst at the White House. There he advised the first two Federal Chief Information Officers and managed major federal policy initiatives, including the Federal IT Reform Plan. Mr. McMahon holds a BA from Boston College and a Master of Public Policy degree from the Irving B. Harris School of Public Policy at the University of Chicago.
