On The Job: CalCISO Meets Over State Workforce Shortage

"On The Job" is a CTC series on employment trends in the innovation economy.

CalCISO held the group’s Third Thursday meeting for October over the topic of the cybersecurity labor market in California.

Participants heard from representatives of the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development regarding the results of a recent study, and from the National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education (NICE) at NIST on the national cybersecurity workforce framework.

Among many other findings, the state labor market study finds that an annual shortfall of over 19,000 graduates exists when compared to the number of job openings, given current conditions.
